Fall is a good time to fertilize your plants in the Southwest. This will help them put on some healthy growth and store a little excess energy for the winter ahead. Warning – I am about to rant just a tiny bit about how erroneous people are who speak of fertilizer as “plant food.” This is an oxymoron and flat wrong to boot.
